After reading your letter, I know that you're a new interchange student from the US to China. As for the problems you mentioned in the letter saying that you had difficulties in studying Chinese and that you were having a hard time to open up for new friends due to your lack of self-confidence, I think it'll do yourself good if you could communicate with your teachers and classmates a lot more often and ask them for help when needed. You need to be braver and believe in yourself more. You know, most Chinese students are not that confident as well when facing foreign friends. But they are all very friendly and willing to help you out if you want. So, step out to introduce yourself to them and make friends with them. You'll love to have an enjoyable staying in China if you have good Chinese friends to share your feelings and help you out of difficuties.
